ninemsn: does the numbers add up?

One question constantly baffles me..

NineMSN is one of the leading portals and consistently has phenomenal levels of traffic. But, is it just me who never uses it? I find it quite a nuisance and not that relevant. And its annoying how it always pops up from my Messenger when… hang on I wonder whether dirty little tricks like pop ups and auto-home page updates effect impressions?

I’m willing to bet that dogmatically pulling impressions form wherever you can is a key strategy for online portals such as yahoo7 and ninemsn. So it begs the question how much is your advertising really worth on channels such as these? Numbers never lie; its the people who use them!
